I haven’t posted in months and I’m not part of the alphabeat radio show any more, because I moved to Vienna to found our design studio Strukt. But I just came across this hilarious video, which I would like to share with you, dear Alphabeat blog reader.

Natürlich muss ich jetzt etwas damit angeben, dass ich mich in Paris befinde und am Samstag die Chemical Brothers live gesehen habe. Von der Bühnenshow hatte ich mir etwas mehr erwartet, doch alles in allem wurde ich nicht enttäuscht: der fulminante Chemicals-Sound und einige wunderschöne Momente in den Visuals machten es zu einem richtig guten Konzert. Die momentane Europatour besteht ja aus nur 30 Auftritten, und erst letzte Woche waren

die beiden in Wien zu sehen (war wer von Alphabeat dort?) Die Bühne dominierte eine große LED-Wand mit guter Leuchtkraft, die eigentlich den Mittelpunkt der Show ausmachte – die zwei waren so gut wie nie beleuchtet und agierten – wie schon 1999 am Southside – in ihrem „Cockpit“. Leider kannte man sogar schon einige Animationen von 1999 – online slots beispielsweise die Vögel, die zum Schluss kamen, und einige Animationen waren nicht richtig smooth und alles nur in einer niedrigen Auflösung (ich schätze 640×480). Doch die meisten Grafiken waren brandneu und richtig schön, und drängten sich sogar manchmal in der Priorität vor den Sound – oder lag das vielleicht an mir?

Übrigens sind schon einen Tag nach dem Konzert über 10 Videoaufnahmen des Konzerts in YouTube-Qualität zu finden.

Die Brothers Keepers haben eine Petition ins Leben gerufen,

die sich gegen Rassismus und Sexismus im deutschen Hip Hop richtet. Unter www.brotherskeepers.de ist jeder aufgerufen zu unterschreiben, der sich an der sich immer deutlicher und zugleich unreflektierter offenbarenden Entwicklung in aktuellen deutschsprachigen Veröffentlichungen stört. Als Beispiel wird B-Tight herangezogen, dessen Album „Neger Neger“, die jüngste Produktion von Aggro Berlin/Groove Attack, text- sowie marketingtechnisch jenseits mobile casino von Gut und Böse steht. Mit überwunden geglaubten Klischees wie jenem vom schwarzen Vergewaltiger mit langem Schwanz spielend, fällt „Neger Neger“ nicht nur der afrodeutschen Community sondern allen Hip Hop Anhängern in den Rücken, die sich gerne an Conscious Rap erfreuen würden.
Nun ist es in der Tat nicht so, dass B-Tight der Erfinder des deutschen Prollraps ist, vielmehr scheint es sogar paradox, genau diesen unbekannten Heini ins Zentrum der Petition zu stellen und ihm somit noch mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu widmen. Trotzdem ist „speaking up“ in dieser Hinsicht längst überfällig und zeigt, dass es noch Musiker und Fans gibt, die mit dem Kopf bei der Sache sind. Also, unterschreiben bitte!
